Dr. Kurt and His Racquetball Look

I cannot remember having so much fun on a racquetball court since I stopped playing years ago. And it’s because I got to spend an hour with Kurt, who not only has an incredible work ethic on the court, but whose practice at Midtown Dental is so good that 5280 (the magazine) has chosen him Top Dentist from 2008-2012. AND because just a “few” years ago, I was his yearbook adviser and still remember his sense of play and his skills as a staff photographer. I am so lucky to be able to stay in touch with such a positive, talented person. Thanks, Dr. T (second generation)!

Followers of my blog know that I have been photographing Debbie and Brian and their three children for a couple of years now. And each session has been a great experience, but this last one was pure joy. The girls are now old enough to direct me where to go for their favorite shots, and big brother Matthew is simply delightful. I added some special effects to some of the photos just for fun as well. Thanks, Debbie and Brian, for letting me help document the growth of your children!

John Celebrates His Birthday in Denver

I had such a great time photographing John’s surprise birthday party at the Marriott Courtyard in downtown Denver. His amazing wife Joyce not only pulled off the surprise while inviting guests from all over the country, but she turned the space into a photo gallery showcasing John’s stunning photography. While the adults laughed and visited and enjoyed the night, the children present, especially his granddaughter Ashlin, added that extra something that always makes the photographer’s job more fun. So I decided to use Ashlin as my guide for this quick overview of a very special evening.

And Ashlin’s cousins enjoyed John’s great photos almost as much as I did!

Maternity Session with Melissa, Chip & Nicholas

I am thrilled for Melissa and Chip and soon-to-be big brother Nicholas as they prepare to welcome a newborn into their home. (Be sure to check back in late June for newborn shots!) And getting to see Melissa’s parents, Lucinda and Bill, is an added treat. As you can see by the following photos, we had way too much fun as we documented pregnancy, family, and life. Special thanks to Melissa and Chip for always being willing to try different ideas (This is the fifth time I have had the privilege of photographing them, from Nicholas’s birth to now.) and for always making me look like a better photographer. I can’t wait to meet the newest member of your familly!!

And I had to take a few of Nicholas!

Jack Turns One!

I love shooting toddlers. (And infants. And families. And weddings. And…) But, seriously, toddlers are so much fun because they NEVER hold still. They are always looking for the next world to conquer, and sitting on mom or dad’s lap simply does not allow conquests. And Jack is the perfect example. From climbing the stairs to finding the Easter egg patch in the neighbors’ garden to running across the yard, Jack was so much fun to photograph. And seeing Bob and Cindy is an added bonus! Happy birthday, Jack!

As always, I love shooting birthdays with a favorite possession of the child’s parent. Here Jack models his dad’s baseball glove. I can’t wait to see what he does with it next year!

Emma & Bailey in Stapleton

When Candace contacted me about taking photos of her daughters, eight month old Bailey and four year old Emma, I was thrilled. I had shot Emma before and couldn’t wait to meet Bailey. Both girls were amazing, smiling the entire time (which is hard for adults over the course of an hour and a half, let alone two little ones!), and just owning the camera. Each personality shone through, and I’m so glad I was able to capture them at these ages. Following are just a few of my favorites.

Once again, I was blessed to photograph the children of another student I taught in my previous career. Nisha was one of those incredible yearbook editors who made a difference not only for the book and the staff she worked with, but in my life as well. And to see her and Brennan interact with their adorable Nina and newborn Krishan is such a treat! Now that they have moved into my neighborhood (and once the snow melts and the weather warms up!), I hope to see lots more of all of them. Congratulations on your darling new addition!

Family Time in Aurora

Every time I am asked to photograph Cindy and Bob and their family, I enjoy it even more. From their wedding to their first son Baylor to his brother Jack to just any chance our paths cross, it is always a treat to be around them. And when Bob’s daughters Shannon (one of my favorite students from a past career) and Tara (who shares my love for photography) and Cindy’s parents are thrown in the mix, the photo shoot gets even better! So following is just a random sample of photos we captured on Christmas Eve. Starting with Jack’s “formal” shot and ending with Baylor and his friend from next door, each shot was a joy. Hope you enjoy them as well!

One of the highlights of my fall photo shoots was the opportunity to watch brothers and sisters (and brothers and brothers and sisters and sisters) interact with each other. As one of five children (bless you, Mom!), I don’t think I appreciated how special that relationship is. I just knew that home baked cookies disappeared far too quickly and one bathroom for seven people is a logistical challenge. Raising two daughters who became best friends, even choosing the same college to attend, was the best gift a mother could want. Watching the siblings photographed below as they posed and played and hugged and laughed just made me smile. And keeps me smiling. I hope the photos make you feel the same.

Wedding Bells

I love shooting weddings. And receptions. And picnics in the park celebrating weddings. And the day after the wedding (when it works out for the bride and groom!). And best wishes to Sarah and Tom, Laura and Eddie, Nora and Cameron, and Diana and Jesse as they celebrate their first holiday season as couples.
