Babies and Children

Adorable Kids – Part One

Since I am so bad at blogging for each client, I’ve decided once again to “theme” my blogs with some of my favorite photos…AND a few tips about how you can capture the same kinds of photos if you wish.

Tip #1:  Photograph from their level. I’ve really improved my flexibility photographing little ones!

Tip #2:  Put them in an environment (playground, Radio Flyer, leaves to play with) where they can ignore you and just have some fun.

Tip #3:  Place the parents near you so the kiddo can interact with them and respond.

Tip #4:  With older kids, get to know them. Ask them what they want. Show them what you are doing and get feedback.

Tip #5:  Don’t worry about smiles. Some of my favorite photos show serious/puzzled/amazed expressions rather than just smiles. Of course, when you get that smile, it’s priceless!

Love of Family

Those of you who know me, know that this past week has been heart-wrenching, as one of my favorite former students, and my daughter’s dear high school friend, passed away while saving her son’s life in a boating accident. So, in honor of Chelsey and how deeply she loved her children, I have put together a montage of recent photos showcasing families and their love for each other. Please hug your loved ones today and tomorrow and always.

Marielle in Stapleton

Okay, my grandsons are cute and I love photographing them. But Marielle? She is a dream model!! I am so glad she was in class with a couple of my grandsons so I could meet her and her delightful mom, Sara. And every time I have had the privilege of photographing her, she has owned the camera. That smile. That impishness. That sense of style. (Thanks, Sara, for the adorable outfits!) I so look forward to photographing her again and again. And Sara, you look amazing as well!!

Rex, Ryan & Rebecca

I am so excited to share these photos of Rex and his parents, Ryan and Rebecca. Their joy with their darling son is so evident that it was hard to stop taking photos. And Rex, bless his heart, managed to stay awake throughout almost the entire two hour session! Normally, I love to photograph sleeping newborns (with some awake shots as well), but Rex was so alert and delightful that he nailed all his poses!  I especially love the one of him and Maeve’s bear. Thank you, Ryan and Rebecca, for the privilege of photographing you all.

Welcome, Baby Kelsey!

I love photographing families over time. And when I have the privilege of photographing both maternity and newborn sessions, life gets even better. And when the mom, Staci, is one of my favorite former students, well, life is perfect. Darling Kelsey arrived a couple of weeks early, giving big sister Kyler the perfect Christmas present.  Thanks, Mark and Staci, for the opportunity to document these special moments in your lives! I have so enjoyed the past few years watching Kyler grow and can’t wait to see how Kelsey does as well. Happy New Year!

Sydney Turns One!!

Confession: I thought I had already blogged about darling Sydney and her wonderful parents, Danny and Annie. Until I realized that I hadn’t. So that error is now corrected. I had so much fun at this photo shoot at City Park in Denver (my new favorite location!) that (as Willie Loman’s wife declared in Death of a Salesman) “Attention must be paid.” Because, seriously. How can we not pay attention to this darling little girl?? She just keeps getting cuter and cuter!!!!

Newborn Juliet & Big Brother William

What a beautiful baby Juliet is! And her big brother William and parents, Anne and Mike, take such delight in her that photographing the family was a joy. It certainly helped that Juliet slept through most of session, so we were able to try out different poses and props. But the absolute best part of our time were the unposed “lifestyle” photos that I so love to photograph. Thank you, Anne and Mike, for the privilege of capturing your growing family!!

Emmett in Denver

Oh, baby! I love this face! When Molly and Billy contacted me to photograph Emmett’s six month milestone, I was thrilled, as I had had so much fun photographing their wedding a few years ago. And Emmett made this session delightful. After capturing a few photos of Emmett in his room, we headed to the green space near their home. I love Denver’s pocket parks and strips of trees and grass. And I loved photographing this family; thank you, Molly and Billy!

Newborn Graham in Denver

Oh, that face!  Little Graham is so adorable that I never wanted to put the camera down. I could have captured ten times as many photos (and actually did!) because his expressions kept changing in such sweet ways. And his parents, Jeremy and Jane, were so much fun to photograph as well. Their joy in their new son helped make this entire photo shoot a dream. Thank you, Jeremy and Jane, for allowing me to record this special time. I had a fabulous time meeting you and your darling Graham.

Brooklyn & Skylar in Stapleton

I have been photographing these adorable twins since they were babies and now that they are almost five (!) I cannot believe how quickly time as gone by.  We have so much fun whenever I get the chance to capture not only their personalities, but their love for each other, that I can’t wait until the next time. And their parents, Shannon and Amanda, always make the photo sessions so enjoyable. This time we had the chance to add in grandparents Chris and Stephen, and I loved how much fun the kids had with them. All in all, just a great way to spend a sunny Denver late afternoon!!!
