Babies and Children

Emma & Kaylee in Denver

One of the best aspects of multiple photo sessions with families that include young children is watching them grow into their distinct, amazing personalities.  I began shooting Emma as a newborn and did the same for Kaylee when she was born just eleven months later, and I so enjoy just studying and following and capturing their moods. And watching Tonya and Josh parent these two darling girls with such love  just warms my heart.  Emma had a cold during this shoot, but that didn’t even begin to slow her down, and Kaylee was content just to be held (especially when she was wrapped in her bug blanket!). I can’t wait for the next photo shoot! (If any of you have been following their story, the yellow truck has appeared in almost every shoot; as a newborn Emma fit in the truck’s bed.)

And I just HAD to try out my new fish eye lens on a couple of shots!!

Nicholas in Centennial

I first met Nicholas when I shot newborn photos of him and his parents Chip and Melissa seven months ago. And after this last photo shoot, I am so grateful they did not wait until he was a year old before letting me photograph him again.  He is absolutely adorable, not only photographically but in his personality.  After being around his parents and grandparents, I could clearly understand where he gets both traits. We shot for over an hour and he was wonderful every minute, although he wasn’t so sure he liked the snowstorm! Thanks, Chip and Melissa, for the chance to spend time with your son. And Happy Holidays to you and everyone as I leave tomorrow morning for three weeks in New Zealand and Australia. I’ll post my favorite shots in January.

Cooper Turns One in Stapleton

Every time I look at these pictures of Cooper I start to smile. And I can’t quit.  He kept that infectious grin going for over an hour solid as we shot pictures of him in the freezing cold, playing with his aunt and uncle’s cat, and crawling all over the house. I also had a great time with his parents, Missy and Danny, while we captured Cooper at one. And, continuing my tradition of photographing landmark birthdays with something special that belongs to a parent, I managed to get a shot of Cooper with his dad’s baseball cap (before he tore it off his head!).  Happy Birthday, Cooper!

Lauren and Megan in Stapleton

When we recently moved to the Stapleton area in Denver, we bought our house from a wonderful, gracious couple who were also expecting their second daughter soon after closing.  Perfect timing for some shots of two adorable girls and their parents; I had so much fun playing with Lauren, who would put a real princess to shame, and Megan, who provided all sorts of entertainment. Thank you, Leah and Josh, for the opportunity to record your beautiful family.

Kendall, Joey and Grant in Stapleton

I learned a great deal on this photo shoot with one of my favorite families; the first is that you can’t take pictures at Park Meadows Mall without getting permission first. (Luckily we had already taken as many as we needed before the security guard arrived and explained this rule!) It was actually a blessing to have to move outdoors as we returned to Stapleton and explored some great locations right in our own backyard.   And that leads to the second lesson: stay away from boys with snowballs. :)  And lesson #3:  two year old adorable girls have personalities to match. Thanks, Tony and Tonette, for letting me share part of your day!

One of the things I love to do when shooting landmark birthdays is to photograph the child with something important to the parents (a baseball cap, dad’s shirt, or, in this case, grandmother’s pink beads).  Kendall had a blast trying to hide the necklace from me, but I managed to capture this one with it on; I can’t wait to see how she wears it at three!

Elsie & Duane & Family in Douglas County

Several years ago I was blessed to photograph Kathy and Ryan’s wedding, and when Elsie and Duane gave me the opportunity to capture the entire clan (now that Tyson has joined his beautiful cousins), I was thrilled. Not only are Elsie and Duane incredible people who have raised three children and are now enjoying four grandkids, but they are a delight to work (and play) with as well.  We recently met at a park in Douglas County to capture all three generations of the family.  I had too many favorites to choose from, so I decided to showcase the grandchildren and grandparents in my blog so you can all see just how beautiful their family is. Of course, I also had to add one picture of Kathy, Ryan and Tyson!

Triple Treat in Castle Rock

When I first met 10 month old triplets Abby, Katie & Will, I knew I was in for a real treat.  Not only are parents Jo and Bill amazingly calm and gracious and fun, but each of their darling kids showed his/her distinct personality throughout the photo shoot.  Despite missing  their morning nap, they proved to be amazingly cooperative models.  I left the shoot smitten by the kids and in awe of the parents. Following are just a few images that I loved.

Babies Everywhere!

When my daughter returned to Denver for her ten year class reunion, it gave her a chance to see not only dear friends (and family), but their children as well. And I, of course, had to snap a few pictures of these beautiful little girls and boy!

Caleb & Emma in Aurora

Welcome, baby Caleb!  After shooting Amanda and Dale’s wedding over a year ago, I knew their children would be beautiful.  Caleb is not only adorable, but a blast to photograph.  And his darling cousin Emma visited during the shoot and even held still for about two seconds so I could capture her as well. :)

Emma at Six Months

Before you see Emma at six months, let’s look at her at a few weeks and then three months. I love this photo of mom Tonya and her precious newborn daughter.  She and dad Josh are amazing parents, and I so appreciate the chances I have to chronicle Emma’s growth over her first year.

And, just for the fun of it (and because her dad is a long haul driver) the last two photos show how fast these little ones grow!
