Sarah in Wash Park
One of the coolest things about photographing seniors is getting to know them. Sarah’s and my paths crossed serendipitously a little over a week ago and the meeting resulted in my having the privilege to shoot her senior pictures at one of her favorite places in Denver––Washington Park. She and her mom, Jill, met me last weekend and we had a blast exploring the different settings that would show off Sarah’s natural beauty. Following are just a few of my favorites. Thanks, Sarah, and I hope you have a great senior year and a successful debate season!
Lily & April & Parents in Denver
I love photographing this family. Alison has been special to me since she was in middle school, and Colin is an incredible father and person. Their two daughters, though, have completely captured my heart. I’ve been shooting Lily since she was six months old and April since birth, and the two of them have such captivating personalities that I tend to stretch out the photo shoots well beyond the planned time frame––because one or the other is just too cute not to get that one last shot! Here are a few of my favorite photos of my favorite family of four.
Lily was showing me her “I don’t want to look at the camera” pose. The best part was she did it at my request and flashed the biggest smile when she was done!
Alison asked me to capture a photo of April with her personalized pacifier. It reminded her of a similar photo I took of Lily when she was just a little bit younger.
Christine & Eugene Marry at Franciscan Center
What a privilege it was to shoot Christine and Eugene’s wedding. I have known Christine since she was a rookie teacher whose classroom was just down the hall from mine. And when she first told me about this special man she was dating (while we peeled wallpaper from Shari’s guest room walls in her new home; it’s amazing how we remember these moments!), I just hoped that someday she would ask me to photograph their special day. And she did. Her ONLY request was that I capture the look on Eugene’s face when he first saw her walking down the aisle; as you can see from the photo below, it was a great request.
It’s always fun when I can gather the entire wedding party for a true group shot!
Christine’s students made the wedding even more special by sharing the ceremony with her and Eugene. Above are members of her Speech and Debate team and below members of the Advisory Board. They all look great!
Eugene’s son Jalen served double duty, as a groomsman in the wedding and helping me shoot some great photos with my 300mm lens. Thanks, Jalen!
And sometimes I just get lucky, even if the bride and groom were not so fortunate. As I prepared to shoot a photo of them greeting guests, a hug somehow turned into a gymnastics feat. The only casualty was Christine’s fingernail. And the entertainment value was priceless!
Jared in Downtown Denver
I met Jared at a journalism workshop this summer and was immediately impressed not only with his talent as a student photographer but with his work ethic and personality. When he asked me to shoot his senior pictures, I was honored. I also had a blast. We went to downtown Denver and found backdrop after backdrop that just let him have some fun as well as showcase this beautiful, eclectic city. Thanks, Jared, and have a great senior year!
