31 Weeks Pregnant
Finally! Here is the third set in the series I’m shooting of the last trimester of Karlyn’s pregnancy. Once again, I have a dilemma picking which porch shot to put in the book I’m compiling for Nolan. Actually, I have decided the book will probably be for Nolan’s future wife, as I’m not sure boys really care all that much about this sort of thing. So I’m including both photos for now. And I had to miss one week because we were in New York and DC (doing projects with our oldest daughter and her husband). I’m really enjoying chronicling the changes and capturing Karlyn in different parts of her house and neighborhood.
McCall & Sondra at Stapleton
I had the privilege of shooting McCall’s senior pictures (that’s her in the photo at the top of my blog), and when she returned from college with her roommate for spring break, she and Sondra posed for some fun photos capturing their friendship and giving me a chance to try out a couple of new lenses. It was so much fun meeting Sondra; I could see why she and McCall are not only great volleyball teammates (Go Rockets!) but true friends as well. I think you will see the same.
The red shoes were too good not to highlight!
I always enjoy trying out different Lightroom techniques. The high contrast ones are always fun, but I can never resist black and white.
Week 29 and Counting!
I cannot believe how much Karlyn changed in just one week. And how much the weather changed. The day was so dark and dismal that we decided to take advantage of the huge window adjacent her stairs to get a shot of Saki. He wasn’t happy about posing, but did a great job. Now, whenever I look at him, I will think of my daughter Janet’s comment about Saki: ”I want nothing more in life than to sedate this cat and then use it as a pillow.” (from her blog loveisblonde.com) My next update on the pregnancy will be a little late because I am in NYC for a national convention and then will be in Washington, DC. I can’t wait to see how much Karlyn will have changed!
Pregnant in Stapleton
When my daughter told my husband and me that we were going to be grandparents, I was beyond thrilled. And not only because I would have a grandchild to love, but because I could pretty much use my daughter as a model to try out some ideas I’ve been thinking about. So on Sunday we shot the first of twelve weeks of environmental portraits to track the last trimester of her pregnancy. The photo below shows her finishing up the quilt she sewed for Nolan. (We’ve been shooting another series of photos, but they will be posted after Nolan’s birth.) I had planned to take one shot of Karlyn at home each week and one that I would combine with a message from her and Chris to their son. Now, after her latest doctor’s visit, it looks as if we are going to have to condense those twelve weeks down to eight. So stay posted as we follow the last few weeks before Nolan arrives!
Once Nolan is born, I’ll put the entire series and his first week into a photo book. For now, I posted two different poses of the message shot because I’m not sure which one I like more. Opinions?
